Meditation |
We encourage the daily
practice of meditation. Preferably two times a
day, once in the morning and again in the evening.
We offer many tools to help facilitate a deeper level of
meditation.
Do you need these things to meditate? No is the
honest answer. All you need is a quiet spot,
uninterrupted for at least 20-30 minutes twice a day.
Our minds are constantly bombarded with thoughts,
memories and desires. It's not easy finding a quiet spot
and a quiet mind in order to access the ever eternal now
- the present moment.
According to Deepak Chopra in his book The
Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire he says
"meditation allows us to glimpse the soul through gaps
between thoughts and discover the the silent observer
within us".
The key to meditation is to stick with it even if you
cannot quiet your mind for thirty minutes the first few
times you try it. Start out with 5 or 10 minutes.
Eventually build up to 30 minutes or more. The
rewards are extraordinary. Keep practicing and eventually
you will find that gap.
Designate an area for your meditation. If you
can't close the door, let family members and friends
know you should not be disturbed when you are here.
Clear the energy of your space by lighting a candle,
ring a bell, or smudge sage throughout the area.
The arrangement of objects that bring peace and joy to
us are powerful visual representations of our connection
to the divine. Crystals and polished stones bring
a healing energy to our sacred space. A candle is
an excellent source of a focal point. Flowers remind us
of the beauty of nature and the spiritual energy that
surrounds us and sustains us.
